NextRadio App UI
NextRadio was an app built for listening to real, live FM radio on your smartphone. As evidenced by the related projects to the right 👉, NextRadio comprised the bulk of my work from about 2012-2018. I was intimately involved in a small team responsible not only for the UX and UI design of the product, but also its branding, marketing, and negotiating for buy-in and participation from the radio industry, the US government, smartphone makers and wireless carriers.
This project was a DOOZY, and I’m incredibly proud of the work our small team was able to accomplish.
Some of my personal UI highlights are shown below. A particular obstacle was onboarding for multiple experiences depending on the user’s hardware and FM signal availability. I can talk for days about this one… contact me to learn more!

Along with the smartphone app, our small agile team was also responsible for the design and development of a content management system that allowed radio stations to manage what visuals and text display along with their station’s audio in the NextRadio app as well as connected cars. TagStation was the web-based service that powered that crucial connection, and incarnations of that technology are still in use and evolving today.
